Historical Bassoons

Catriona was recently appointed as Irish Baroque Orchestra’s principal bassoon. She also works regularly as principal bassoon with other of the UK’s leading period instrument ensembles, including The English Concert, English Baroque Soloists, Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique and Dunedin Consort.

She is an equally passionate chamber musician and a member of the first ever BBC New Generation Baroque Ensemble Ensemble Molière, with whom she explores a particular passion for French baroque music. As a soloist, Catriona is a former Handel House Talent artist and gives solo recitals with her colleagues from Ensemble Molière.

Catriona plays a whole variety of historical bassoons, from baroque and classical through to Romantic and twentieth-century bassoons, in both French and German systems.
